Great job boys
What a great weekend away. The Junior Mustangs headed to the windy city of Chicago Illinois to go after the Chicago Cup. We started off strong against one of the top ranked A teams in Ontario the Oakville Rangers. The game went back and forth and could have been a win for either team but we held out for a 6 to 3 win with an empty net goal. We had a feeling we would see them again before the tournament was over. Our next two round robin games were against the Richmond Hill Stars and the Lightening out of Texas. The travel and the hotel fun got the best of us in these games but we were able to get the wins to move onto the playoffs. We started to get the train rolling in the semi finals when we had to play The Richmond Hill Stars for the second time. This was a more complete game for the Mustangs holding them to just 4 shots on net while getting over 30 the other way. It was a positive sign going into the finals with a 4 to 0 win. Off to the finals and as expected we would be facing the Oakville Rangers. The boys came out flying in this game putting in one of our best performances of the season. Every player played their hearts out, winning battles, carrying the play, back checking and for checking giving there all. We limited our mistakes and capitalized on some great scoring chances to get a very impressive 4 to 0 win.
It was a weekend of good times, great hockey, a fabulous city, and great memories. Thanks to all who made this possible as a Coach I couldn't be more proud of how our kids played in the final and how they acted as a team all weekend long.
