The Jr. Mustangs hoisted the Cup in Motown over the weekend, going 4-0 in the tournament.
After getting across the border safely on Friday afternoon, the boys treated their fans to a 3-0 shutout over a tough Fox Motors A team, starting the tournament strongly. Next up on Saturday morning was a large, game 03 AA team in the Grosse Ile Islanders. In a back and forth contest that saw your Stangs rely on their speed, grit and some big saves, a close 4-3 win was in the books.
Saturday night was the Metro Jets. A win guaranteed a bye to the finals. It also meant the boys (and parents) could sleep in on Sunday morning. Everyone was motivated. The Jr. Mustangs did not disappoint, with a convincing 7-1 win. The finals were set for Sunday afternoon; a rematch against those challenging Grosse Ile Islanders.
The Islanders came out strong, and took a 1-0 lead. Some big saves helped the boys weather the storm, and the tide turned. Relying on strong passing, solid defense and goaltending, the Stangs played a complete team game and came away with a 5-2 win, and the Motown Cup. Congratulations Junior Mustangs Minor Peewee White, on a great tournament and fun weekend.
