Welcome to the U10 London Jr Mustangs - White
Welcome to the 2021-2022 hockey season! My name is Brad Morris, and I am really looking forward to coaching the U10 London Jr Mustangs team this year.
This is a unique and unprecedented time as we strive to move to some sort of normalcy in our lives and in sports. Although there are some provincial guidelines to alter the experience, we still anticipate practices, games and tournaments will proceed as planned.

Registration is still open for Junior Mustangs tryouts.  If you haven't already done so... please register ASAP.  This includes any players being released from London Junior Knights tryouts.
The Junior Mustangs registration page is here: https://londonjuniormustangs.ca/Articles/6202/Registration_is_OPEN_/

The tryouts process will begin Monday Sept 27th, 7-8:20 at Bostwick arena, please ensure your players arrive 15 minutes prior to their assigned time and that they are mostly dressed prior to entering the arena.

We will not be provided tryout jerseys but will have a runner's bib (#) that will be pinned to your jersey, please ensure it is visible so evaluators can see the # properly.

For the first skate, wear whichever color jersey you wish, for the second skate I will split the groups up into light and dark jerseys for more game play situations.

For the tryouts… Some of the qualities that I am looking for…

·Compete Level This is the number 1 quality I look for on a hockey player.  A player who will give 100% effort out there. Offensively and defensively, battle hard to get that puck and is just an overall hard worker.

·Unselfish and heads up – A player who skates with their head up to see the ice and potential options, A player that passes the puck to a player ahead of him, A player who will pass instead of shoot if it is the correct option.  Shooting or skating with it is not always a selfish option.

·Respectful and positive attitude – A player that shows respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, game officials and parents.  There should never be any slamming of sticks, cursing, chirping players or showing overall negative attitudes etc.  A hockey player must always be positive with themselves, their teammates and all involved even in the face of a loss.

·Coachability – A player who can/will listen to instructions and act on those instructions.  A player who is always paying attention, listening and willing to learn

·Skillset Notice how this is last in my list.  While skills are important, a player's development and team play will not progress unless the above skills are present as well.  A player that may be a little less skilled but has the above qualities will surpass player who does not by midseason.  Mid to late season is always my target when picking and then developing hockey players.

Note: Previous competitive hockey experience at any level does not guarantee placement on this team. All players will be given equal consideration during the tryout process.

My focus for the season will be Development; Individual skills as well as Team play/systems.  Hard work, Discipline, Respect and Positive attitudes and of course fun will be the foundation of this season's success...

Return to Play and Covid-19

As a reminder all families must follow the GHLA Return to Play protocols which include vaccinations. As of Wednesday September 22nd per provincial regulations everyone 18 and over is required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated prior to entering any City of London arena including the Western Fair. This applies to all participants, coaches, officials and spectators 18 and over. This proof needs to be provided each time they wish to enter the arena.

I am looking forward to starting our season and want to wish all the U10 players a very successful season.  I know the U10 age group is the first introduction to seeded hockey.  Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
