Congratulations to the Purple Mustangs Peewee team for winning the 49th Annual
Wayne Gretzky International Hockey Tournament.
The team began the tournament with a convincing win over the Bradford Bulldogs and then played the New Hamburg Huskies to a hard fought tie. Day two saw the Mustangs beat the Oakville Rangers and Burlington Bulldogs, setting up a semi-final match against the Parry Sound Shamrocks.It was a very fast paced and competitive game, and the Mustangs pulled off the victory to secure a spot in the finals. The final game was a rematch with Oakville, and it proved to be an exciting championship game. Fast paced, physical and intense the game remained tied after three periods. The overtime time period saw the teams exchange chances until the Mustangs scored to win the Championship! The coaches are proud of the team for their effort and team play! Go Mustangs!
