2023/24 LJM Tryout Information

Every year the Jr Mustangs, the GLHA and its member partners meet to deliver competitive pricing for the upcoming season. As volunteer-run organizations; We work hard to ensure that our pricing stays low as possible for all members - by keeping registration costs low, it encourages families and players to be active and play a sport we all love.

We want to thank all members for their patience over the last few years. With your cooperation we were successful navigating through the COVID years and had a normal hockey season in 2022-23. It was truly a team effort by everyone. 

Changes For 2023-24 Based on Member Feedback:

In response to the changing Minor hockey landscape we surveyed our families recently. Getting a high 72% response rate of 184 unique responses from 255 registered players decisions were made to follow this data. Based on our high responses and feedback from all 4 GLHA Presidents representing their respective Board of Directions evaluation skates and team creation will be based on Purple or White, except U10, U11, and U18 will be city-wide teams. There were fantastic comments shared and our committee will review in detail and respond in an FAQ format.

Players must live in the following areas to try out for London Junior Mustangs:

Purple Mustangs - North London Nationals or Oakridge Aeros area.

White Mustangs - West London Hawks or London Bandits area.

The GLHA is enforcing it's own boundaries within London for the ages that are Purple and White.

Tryouts for U10-16 start May 7, 2023

Tryouts for U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16 are in Spring 2023 (Starting May 7th)

U18 - Fall 2023 (September)

The new Hockey Canada Registration (HCR) system was updated throughout 2022 and now collects and stores player information from past seasons in your account. All details are kept confidential. Once teams are formed players will then need to fully register.

Body Checking Clinic: Any players trying out in u14 and older ages is required to have completed a Body Checking clinic. It is no charge and shows up at the bottom of both links for U12-U16 White and Purple.

If your player is registered to do the Jr. Knights Checking clinic or have done a HC Checking Clinic in past they are not required to do it again. 

The Combined Purple and White Checking Clinic is Sunday May 7th. 530-630pm - Classroom and 7-830pm - WF LMA Pad. This is for anyone U14 (2010) or older who has not taken a certified Checking Clinic.

We start our tryouts immediately after LJK and we will keep registrations open for the late releases from LJK. Each Jr Mustangs teams coach will update their tryout lists accordingly. Players who are last releases from LJK who register for Jr Mustangs and do not see their name on the tryout list are encouraged to reach out to their respective coach.

All Players must be registered with Jr Mustangs to tryout to be able to step on the ice to Tryout. 

Any player not successful being chosen for Jr Mustangs Team will register with their GLHA association for fall tryouts.

NRP's (Non-Resident Players)

Jr Mustangs do not allow NRP's.  The only exception is when a team is in a player relief situation. Player relief must be granted by the Alliance on a case by case basis. Based on the high amount of players attending Jr Mustangs tryouts in past seasons this would be an exceptional circumstance and we would post the request on our home page.

NOTE: Anyone who is not presently in good standing with Jr Mustangs Minor Hockey will be required to settle all fees prior to being allowed to complete registration.  No player will be allowed to skate with fees owing. Requests for refunds will not be accepted after the First Tryout.

Once our teams are formed players will then need to fully register, this is our fee schedule for this coming season. There is a no-interest installment option in the HCR system.

REGISTRATION REFUND POLICY

Registration fee minus 55.00 administrative fee  until September 1st, 

Registration fee minus 100.00 cancellation fee , plus  the administrative fee of 55.00 until November 1st, 

After November 1st there will be no refunds.
