AA/A Purple (Oakridge/North) - Jr. Mustangs Purple Tryouts
Submitted By webmaster on Friday, March 22, 2019
Just a quick update.  Jr. Mustangs Purple will be doing their tryouts in September.

Seeded program in GLHA has only had spring tryouts for the last 5 years, and there are a number of reasons why we are going back to September tryouts in Sept., but here are a few:
  • Hockey Canada, Alliance and OHF will make it mandatory in 2020
  • our tryouts start mid May and end sometimes in June (typically 2/3 or our teams end playing before March Break)
  • a large percentage of our seeded players will not skate from end of season until tryouts
  • a lot of our players tryout for all levels including AAA
  • due to exhaustive tryout process, too many injured and exhausted players attend our tryouts
  • as we can’t hold a spot, injured players that can’t participate in tryouts are automatically relegated to lower level
  • MD players have not had the same exposure to ice from end of March until mid May
  • as our players are exceptional athletes in many sports, they’ve already started participation in those
  • as coaches will be announced after completion of Jr. Knights AA tryouts(some of our candidates will have their children make one of those City wide teams), they will now have more time to focus on getting their teams in tournaments, arranging for assessors and planning their season instead of scrambling to get everything done within days of Jr. K tryouts ending
Again, thank you all and we look forward to seeing you all in the 2019/20 season,
Jr. Mustangs Purple Committee
