Welcome to 2019 London Junior Mustangs White Tryouts - ‘Lead, Develop and Promote Positive Hockey Experiences’

The London Junior Mustangs White committee and its coaches would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to tryouts and to give you a little information about the tryout process. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the Chair of the London Junior Mustangs White committee, Sionainn Pryce-Hynes at [email protected]

The Tryout Process is one of the most stressful times of year for young hockey players…and their parents. Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly, children tend to handle the pressure of tryouts far better than their parents do. We would like to invite you to start the process of leading, developing and promoting positive hockey experiences for our young athletes by being supportive and encouraging to all of the children who are trying out this year. Here’s a great article for you to read through if you have a moment. So Your Child Didn’t Make the Team. Now What?

What should I know about the tryout process?

All tryouts will be held at the Western Fair Sports Centre. It is your responsibility to check the team website and be aware of any time changes, Coach’s communications, exhibition game schedules or player releases.

You can visit the Junior Mustangs White team websites for more information.

Players can check in an hour before their scheduled ice time. In an effort to ensure the London Junior Mustangs are compliant with the OHF Dressing Room Policy, players will not be given access to the dressing room until 30 minutes before their scheduled ice time and dressing room monitors are in place outside the door.

Exhibition game access may vary depending on the request of your coach. Check the team website for exhibition game details.

Players should bring their own water bottle to tryouts.

Please ensure that all hockey equipment is in good working order.

Players will not be allowed to participate in London Junior Mustangs White tryouts if the tryout registration fee has not been paid in full.

Players are guaranteed two (2) skates. After the second skate, player releases can commence. Player releases will be posted to the team website.

Released players are directed to contact their home association and register for MD tryouts.

All Minor Bantam players and any Bantam or Minor Midget players who have not already taken a Checking Clinic either through London Junior Knights or London Junior Mustangs, are required to attend the Checking Clinic on May 12th unless they have previously taken the clinic. The Checking Clinic has an in-class session and an on-ice session. Players must participate in both sessions to continue on in the tryout process. Please bring full hockey equipment for the On-Ice session. White In-class start: 1:15pm On-Ice Start: 2:45pm

The London Junior Mustangs White coaching staff would be happy to provide feedback to players who are released. If you would like feedback, please email the coach 24 hours after a player release. Coaches will do their best to reply to you within a week. Unfortunately, due to the nature of tryouts, it may take longer than to provide feedback.

PLEASE REVIEW THE TRYOUT SCHEDULE BEFORE EACH TRYOUT.
