U11 White Mustangs Bring Home the Hardware
The U11 Jr. Mustangs White
were in Ottawa this past weekend for the 7th Annual Capital Volunteer Cup
hosted by Senators Sports & Entertainment. They won all five games against
teams from Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) and the OMHA, to win their first
tournament of the season.
In a hard-fought
championship game, Brendan Bishop tied the game with a shorthanded goal, and
Finlay Hinrichs was the lone goalscorer in the shootout to secure a 2-1 win
over the host Cumberland Jr. Grads. Mustangs goaltenders Alex DeGagne and Colby
Campbell allowed only four goals all weekend and each recorded shutouts, while
Mustangs forward Jack Matthison lead the tournament with eight points in five
games.
