U12 Jr. Mustangs Represent Canada Well in Detroit at The CCM Nations Cup
The U12 JMP participated in the CCM Nations Cup AA/A tournament this past weekend in Troy, Michigan.
This is a big tournament with 12 Canadian
and 12 USA teams for 24 total teams in the 2011 AA/A division. All Canadian teams wore sharp Team Canada jerseys & socks, while playing USA teams in all games. The boys had fun selecting 'superstar' numbers for their custom personalized jerseys. The team was challenged with a tough
initial draw; playing 4 very strong AA USA teams, competing hard and playing
great hockey against these Clubs.
Finishing 5th seed out of the 12 Canadian teams after the initial 4 round-robin games we were matched against another fast and physical opponent who was from Virginia (Washington D.C. area) for our fifth
and final game. We gave them everything and more than they could handle at times,
just falling short.
In the end, the Jr. Mustangs had 1 of the toughest schedules of all 12 Canadian teams, playing 4 of the top 5 US teams in the entire tournament and dealt well with adversity faced on and off the ice.
Our team had a blast together off the ice at the hotel and in team events and had the experience of playing teams from 5 different States; 4 of which play AAA teams on a regular basis. These 4 teams are currently ranked within the top-150 of 300 2011-aged AAA/AA/A Competitive teams in the entire USA.
Fantastic job Jr. Mustangs Purple and families who proudly represented Canada and London extremely well. We displayed class, fair-play and sportsmanship during the entire weekend, even when it wasn’t always reciprocated.
Not every victory shows up on the scoreboard - this experience made our team stronger and the best is yet to come.
